Self-Care: Sunday's

Updated: Mar 6, 2020

Sunday's are always my designated days to fully relax and practice self-care. It is also a time for reflecting on the week, organizing my home, and planning new goals. I usually spend an ample amount of time outside, walking in parks, exploring neighborhoods, getting a pedicure, or relaxing at Venice beach. Whilst Sunday is my designated day, practicing self-care is an everyday task that should not be left unfinished. Thus, this particular Sunday falls on the last day of the month and here are 6 tips to making the best of it!

JUNE 30TH, 2019

1. Reconnect with old friends and family members. Taking the time out to have a 15-30+ minute call with a loved one can really make a positive change in your day. Feelings of connectedness, love, and forgiveness will warm your heart for days on in.

2. Review your goals for June Often times we set goals for each month and never take the time out to review what worked, what didn't, and how we can better accomplish these goals in the next month. Take the time out to set the intentions for July and carefully, evaluate your progress thus far.

3. Get a massage and steam room session Massages have been scientifically proven to lower cortisol levels, drain lymphatic system of toxins, and build your immune system. You will feel refreshed, renewed, and most importantly relaxed.

4. Plan a trip (Greece September 23-30, 2019) Having something to look forward to can really take the monotony out of your routine. You'll feel rejuvenated and excited awaiting that next adventure!

5. Sleep in In LA, it is deeply frowned upon to sleep in or "not work" 24/7 to progress your agenda. (I'll admit it can be hard to not buy into the "no sleep" success theory) However, sleep is very important and in order to do your best work, you need to be well rested and at your best. Take this day to sleep in, revive your cells, and renew your energy. Work Smarter, Not Harder. Give yourself permission.

6. Try something new One aspect of self-care that is consistently left out is learning! Your brain needs to learn new information to stay young and build and revive old cells. Have you ever heard the saying "If you don't use it, you lose it"? Well this is certainly true for the brain, as we age the brain shrinks simultaneously, and memory and all cognitive functioning declines. DO YOUR BRAIN A FAVOR AND LEARN ALL YOU CAN IN THIS LIFE. Go to an international cooking class, do yoga with goats, learn a new language, volunteer, repair something utilizing a youtube tutorial! Whatever it may be, never stop learning. Your body and brain will thank you later with tangible results!

Take Care,

Chanel Michele
